ALRIGHT…WHO STOLE MY HAPPY PLACE?

Published by theowl at 5:48 am under Family Life, Living, My Life Edit This

Have you ever stopped and looked at your kids and thought…WHAT THE HECK DID I DO WRONG!!!!  I find myself doing that a lot lately.  Did I mention the fact that I have 2 teenagers still living at home?  And I work at home, or try to work at home.  Why is it that I have to wait until they’re asleep, before the house is quiet enough to think?  Oh yea, they’re teenagers.  My son is 18 and my daughter is 14.  Do they get along?  Let me see…I just got up and separated them.  I am Mom, Referee, The Punisher and The Enforcer!!  For every 5 minutes they get along, they spend 10 minutes arguing.  They were just “discussing” Monopoly money.  My son has been playing with his friends lately and said that they keep running out of money.  So he had this great idea to take some of the money from our game.  That started it.  My daughter said no and my son said we never play.  My daughter said that we never play because he is too busy playing with his friends.  Then my son said why would he want to play a Monopoly with his family and at least he has friends, which started a whole new argument.  See what I mean? Quite a few people have told me that I have never been very firm with them and that they run over me.  But if they run over me, it’s usually with love.  My kids and I are pretty close.  Their father tells me that they need more discipline and their step father says they’re spolied.  Neither of these are true.  My kids are the stability in my life.  They have self esteem and self respect.  Both of which I didn’t acquire until I got much, much older.  I’m proud of all 3 of my children and they are all so different.  So where is my Happy Place?  I guess it’s in the front room where the arguing is!
